Alimony

Alimony is spousal support that can be ordered to balance the difference in incomes and expenses between the parties. The Court considers each spouse’s reasonable monthly expenses versus the respective net incomes of each spouse. The laws governing alimony are complex and it is important that a spouse who believes he or she needs alimony from their ex- can accurately calculate his or her expenses. Each case is different when it comes to calculating alimony and there are no set alimony amounts that the Court will or will not order based on any level of income or length of marriage. You should consult with an attorney to discuss your specific situation when it comes to seeking or paying alimony.
