Child Custody is the resolution of where the children will live when parents reside in separate households and the making of decisions affecting the children. Physical custody includes a schedule where the children will be from day-to-day, and the calendar can be created many different ways. It also includes holidays, summer vacation, transportation and exchange days/times and locations.
Legal custody is the ability to make decisions for the children, including where they will go to school or daycare, medical decisions, which religion the children will be raised in and general disciplinary tools for the children. The ability for parents to communicate with each other is essential for parents to share joint legal custody.
